Stainless Steel Hose Clips & Clamps, Strapping, Cable Ties

What is a hose clip?

A hose clip is a simple clamp that is made from a strip of 304 stainless steel with a worm drive fitting, or a bolt or nut, on one end and shaped to form a complete circle so the band maybe tightened around a hose.

There are four main types of hose clip as supplied by Anzor namely Perforated Hose Clips which has a worm screw thread cut out of the band, Non Perforated Hose Clips which has a worm screw thread formed on top of the band, SHC Heavy Duty Hose Clamps which use a nut and bolt to tighten the band which is wider than the non or perforated hose clips and the One Ear Hose Clip which uses a spring loaded clip that moves over serrations on the body of the strip. Also available are cable ties and strapping.

Perforated 304, Non Perforated 304 and Non Perforated 316 Hose Clips are designed to hold a hose onto a pipe or fitting, which they do by applying pressure all the way round the circumference of the hose and tightening it onto the pipe or fitting the hose is being connected to, the worm drive is like a screw slotting into the perforated slots or over the non perforated band drawing the band through the boss and tightening over the hose. The clip is identified by the range of sizes that it will pass over and tighten up on and the type of band it has.

Perforated and Non Perforated clips have a wide tightening range relative to the heavy hose clamps.

SHC Heavy Duty Hose Clamp uses a bolt and nut to tighten the band instead of the worm screw and has a much wider and heavier band. Also the heavy duty clamps have a much smaller range of sizes that they suit so care should be taken when selecting the size required.

One Ear Hose Clips are used to hold small diameter hose onto a pipe of fitting, the latch is spring loaded and clips over serrations on the body strip preventing it from slipping back The clip is tightened by using a pair end cutting nippers or pincers, pliers can be used but care must be taken not to damage the clip. Suitable for low pressure applications One Ear Hose Clips are used on fuel lines, water drains or overflow pipes.

Stainless Steel Strapping, comes in rolls of 30m and is similar to the hose clips but the strap can be cut to any length. The required length of strapping is placed around the object and a buckle fitted to the free end, with the aid of a special tool the strap is drawn tight around the object and folded back over the buckle and cut off. Strapping is identified by two parts, the first being the strap which is available in handy plastic encased coils of 30m and a Buckle which holds the free end of the strap and clamps the other end after it has been tensioned. Available in 304 grade and in three sizes (width of the strap) 10, 13 and 20mm. Mostly used for strapping signs or notices on lamp posts.

Staineless Steel Cable Ties are the perfect solution for tying cables, fuel lines or steering cables in boats, but can be used in any outdoor or wet environment available in 304 or 316 stainless steel they offer excellent durability in any marine application and suitable for diameters up to 150mm. The use of a Cable Tie tool is required to tighten the tie and cut the excess strip leaving a tidy and professional finish.
