Tension Rods (also referred to as Tie Bars and Tension Bars) are used for tension applications and can be found in a variety of applications from residential use through to large industrial projects such as shopping centres and warehouses.
These systems are commonly used for suspending structures, bracing walls, canopies (including glass), lighting features and much more. The sizes range from M6 to M64 and the systems are measured in length from pin to pin (of the forks).

Anzor Stainless Steel SRS Forks are ex stock and sold as either Left or Right threads.
316 Stainless Steel (or 2205 Stainless Steel) Tension Rods are tension-only braces, with tensile strength data available but not dynamic performance data. At the Tawa Church, Wellington, a Tectonus Device (not supplied by Anzor) was used with Anzor Stainless Steel Tension Rods for seismic load demand.
Tension-only rod braces, whilst can be considered as a lateral load resisting system, cannot provide energy dissipation. Therefore the ductility factor as per code is 1.0–1.25. See the Tectonus Device: tension-only braces & seismic
By adding the Tectonus device, the ductility factor increases to 3.0–4.0, so the seismic load demand could be reduced to about 1/3, providing significant cost savings for the gussets, welds, foundations, etc (in particular for retrofitting projects). As well as up-front cost savings, there will be significant post-event cost savings given no replacement is required, and the building would be fully resilient. It should be noted that the self-centering aspect of the Tectonus device is a necessity for tension-only systems.
